Fishing report 07/02/21: Last week, the water was very murky due to all of the rain we have been getting lately, but we still managed to find sheepshead hiding amongst the rocks. We brought in over a dozen Southern stingrays over 50 lbs each and a hefty bunch of Cownose rays in the past week.
The heavy rains are pushing the freshwater out from the rivers into the Gulf and bringing the trophy-sized gar with it. We even shot one longnose gar that was one pound shy of a Florida state record.
The warmer water temperature also has brought the sharks inshore, and we’ve had a great time watching the blacktips and bull sharks chowing down on the mullet around the boat. Black drum have been a little sporadic in the past week but we managed to get at least one monster drum each night.
Still plenty of great bowfishing despite the lower visibility!
