Crystal River Fishing Reports for Mid-June 2021

homosassa black drum

The Gulf temps are really warming up! Which also unfortunately means dodging evening thunderstorms.

The Black Drum have been hanging out on the outer oyster bars on the low tide. Make sure you have an extended bottle retriever (AMS large bottle holds 60+ yards of line) for the black drum- otherwise they will spool you quickly.

Stingrays are moving inshore and can be targeted at the tips of sand flats and oyster bars on the incoming tide. Don’t mistake a sea turtle for a stingray – I have been seeing thousands of loggerheads on the flats lately!

Each night we have been bringing home a few gar, jacks, and black drum, about a dozen sheepshead, tons of stingrays, and enough mullet to wear your arm out.
